Klondike Solitaire
How it works
Klondike is the solitaire most people mean when they say “solitaire”. You deal seven columns of cards, the first with one card and the last with seven, and only the top card of each column face up. The rest of the deck is the stock. The goal is to move every card to the four foundations, one per suit, building up from Ace to King.
On the tableau you build columns downward in alternating colours: a red 6 on a black 7, a black 5 on that red 6. You can move a whole run of face-up cards together. When you move the last face-up card off a column, the card underneath turns over. An empty column can only take a King. From the stock you draw either one card at a time or three, depending on the rules you play by.
What makes a good one
- Big, clear cards with large corner indices, readable on a phone.
- Tap to move a card to its best spot, as well as drag.
- Free undo, and deals that can actually be won.
- No ads between every single game.
Strategies that help
Turn over face-down cards first. Moves that reveal a hidden card are almost always the best moves.
Empty a column only when a King can use it. An empty column with no King to fill it wastes a move.
Don’t rush cards to the foundations. A low card may still be needed on the tableau to hold a run.
Play from the bigger columns. The tallest columns hide the most cards, so dig there.
Our take
Kitty Klondike is our Klondike solitaire, set in a cosy cat café that grows as you win. Every deal has a solution, the cards are large and easy to read, undo and hints are free (in the Daily each undo adds 5 seconds), and there is a Daily deal for everyone with a streak and a result to share.
