Lantern Logic

Daily Nonogram

About Lantern Logic

Lantern Logic is a nonogram, also known as picross or a griddler, dressed for a night market. Each grid hides a picture, and the numbers along every row and column tell you how its lit cells run. Light the cells you can prove, cross out the ones that must stay dark, and the picture slowly appears.

The daily nonogram is the heart of it. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day. Finish it and the lanterns light up one by one before the picture’s name rises from the grid, a paper boat one day and a tea cup the next.

Mistakes never end a puzzle, and you can hide the clock. Time only matters on the Daily board, where hints carry a fair penalty.

New to nonograms? A one-minute 5×5 Starter teaches everything you need. Then keep your streak going, share a result that gives nothing away, and catch up on the last 14 days in the Archive. Progress stays in your browser, and an unfinished Daily resumes where you left it.

How to play

  1. Each number beside a row or above a column is a run of lit cells in that line, in order, with a gap between runs.
  2. Light the cells you can prove, and cross out the ones that must stay dark.
  3. When a line matches its clue, the clue dims and its empty cells are crossed for you.
  4. Light every right cell to reveal the picture and its name.
  5. There are no lives. A wrong cell only means the picture won't finish yet.

Tips

  • Start with the biggest numbers. In a 10-cell row, a 7 always covers the middle four cells.
  • Cross out every 0 line at once: each cross is a clue for the column it sits in.
  • A lit cell against the edge pins the first run of that line.
  • Stuck? Switch direction. Progress in rows usually opens up a column.

FAQ

Is the Daily the same for everyone?

Yes, a new one every UTC day: 10×10 from Monday to Thursday, 12×12 from Friday, with the weekend the toughest. Every puzzle has one solution you can reach by logic alone.

What does a hint do?

It clears any wrong cells first. Otherwise it settles a whole row or column you can prove and highlights it. The Daily allows 3 hints, each adding 60 seconds to your time; Archive hints cost nothing.

Are there ads?

You can choose to watch a short ad for a hint. An ad may also appear on the way back to the menu after the Daily, or between Archive puzzles, but never while you solve and never after your first puzzle.

What if no ad is available?

The hint unlocks for free after 3 minutes on the puzzle, then 3 minutes after each hint. The clock only runs while you play.

How does the streak work?

Solve the Daily on consecutive days, hints or not. Each 7-day run earns a streak freeze that covers one missed day. A Daily opened before midnight UTC and finished after it counts for its own day but is not ranked.

Does sharing reveal anything?

No. It copies the puzzle number, size, time, hints and streak with a link. Never a name, an ID or the picture.

Design notes

Many phone nonograms punish mistakes with lives and sell hints one cell at a time. Lantern Logic has no lives, and one hint really gets you moving. A solver checks every picture with line-by-line logic, so no Daily needs a guess.
