Fridge Fit
Grocery Packing Puzzle
About Fridge Fit
Fridge Fit is a fridge organizing game for people who love it when everything fits. You have just come home from the shop with a basket of groceries, and the fridge is exactly the right size, if you pack it right. Drag the cake, the milk, the broccoli and the rest onto the shelves until there is not a single gap left. Then the light flickers, the door swings shut and Pip the magnet does a little dance.
Groceries never turn, so every move is a clear choice about where things go. Mirror twins, like the grapes and the berries, make you look twice. There is no timer in the levels and no way to lose: Undo and Put back are always free, and every fridge has a perfect fit.
Something new arrives every ten fridges: a second shelf, jars that are already in, the thin door strip, the freezer drawer that only takes frozen food, shelves of different heights, big shapes and finally spare items that stay in the basket.
Every day there is a new Daily fridge, the same for everyone. Keep your streak going and share your packing.
How to play
- Drag a grocery from the basket onto a shelf. A ghost shows where it will land: a green outline with a tick means it fits, a red hatch with a cross means it doesn't.
- Groceries never turn. Each one goes in exactly as it is drawn, so the puzzle is where it goes.
- Tap a grocery on a shelf to put it back in the basket. Undo and Restart are always free.
- Fill every space in the fridge to close the door: Perfect fit! Finish quickly with no undos for three stars.
- Stuck? Hint makes Pip the magnet put one grocery where it belongs. If nothing left fits, Pip says so: take something out and try another way.
Controls
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Touch | Drag a grocery onto a shelf (it floats above your finger so you can see where it lands), or tap a grocery and then tap a shelf space |
| Touch | Tap a grocery on a shelf to put it back; the arrows beside the basket show more groceries |
| Mouse | Drag a grocery onto a shelf, or click it and click a shelf space; click a placed grocery to put it back |
| Keyboard | Number keys 1-9 or Tab pick a grocery, arrow keys move its ghost, Enter or Space places it, Backspace puts one back |
| Keyboard | U undoes, H shows a hint, K skips (when offered), R twice restarts, P pauses, M turns the sound on or off, F goes fullscreen |
Tips
- Awkward shapes first. Long bananas, jugs and the roast chicken are easiest to fit while the shelves are still empty.
- Fill corners first. A corner only fits a few shapes, so decide what goes there before the easy middle.
- Grapes and berries are mirror twins, and so are the two jugs. Only one of each pair fits a given corner.
- Save the singles. Butter, yogurt and jam fill the last odd gaps.
- The door strip takes thin things only, and the freezer drawer takes frozen food only. Pack those first.
- Tried something and it went wrong? Undo is free, so experiment.
FAQ
Can every fridge be packed?
Yes. Every level and every Daily fridge is built by filling the fridge with groceries first, then checked by a solver before it was added. There is always at least one perfect fit.
How do hints work?
Pip the magnet puts one grocery where it belongs, or tells you which one to put back if the shelves have gone wrong. The first hint on each fridge is free. After that it is free again 40 seconds after your last placement, or you can watch a short ad for it if one is ready. A hint caps that fridge at one star.
Do I have to watch ads?
No ad is ever the only way forward. Undo, Put back and Restart are always free, and Skip becomes free after 3 restarts or 3 minutes on a fridge. A short ad may play when you press Next fridge, never in your first 10 fridges, at most every third fridge and never in the Daily.
How does the Daily fridge work?
Everyone gets the same big fridge each UTC day, and your first try is ranked. The score starts at 3,000 and drops by one point a second, 20 per undo or put-back and 60 per hint (up to 3). It saves as you go, so you can come back to it. Yesterday’s fridge can be played for fun.
What does Share show?
The fridge number, your time, undos, hints and streak, and one line of coloured squares per shelf that shows when you finished each part of the fridge. It never shows your name or anything that identifies you.
Can I play if I am colour-blind?
Yes. Every food family has its own pattern as well as a colour, every grocery has its own shape and picture, and a ghost that does not fit is hatched and shows a cross, not only red.
Design notes
Phone packing games often place an ad after every short level and let you squeeze things in roughly. We wanted an exact puzzle instead: a fridge that is either perfectly packed or not, a door that swings shut when it is, free undo, and help that never depends on an ad. Groceries don't rotate, which keeps the early fridges under a minute, the big ones to a minute or two, and the controls one-thumb simple.
Changelog
- Released: 500 fridges with a new idea every 10 levels (a second shelf, fixed jars, the door strip, the freezer drawer, tall shelves, big shapes and a spare item), a ranked Daily fridge with a shareable result, and a collection of 32 groceries.
