Tiny Grid Daily
Daily Block Puzzle
About Tiny Grid Daily
Tiny Grid Daily is a small town planning job with a very strict landlord. You get an 8x8 plot of land and three pieces at a time, each shaped like a little cluster of houses: a row of cottages, an L-shaped bakery, a neat square of townhouses. Place all three and a fresh set arrives.
Fill a whole row or column and the residents move in. The line lights up, clears with a cheerful flourish and frees space for the next batch of buildings. Pieces never rotate, so the shape you are given is the shape you get.
The heart of it is the daily block puzzle. Every UTC day, everyone gets the same starting town and the same 36 pieces, so your score lines up directly against a friend’s. When you finish, copy a little emoji grid of your result and paste it wherever you like.
If one round a day isn’t enough, Endless lets you keep building until nothing fits, with an all-time leaderboard to climb.
How to play
- You hold three pieces at a time. Each is a fixed shape of little houses and never rotates.
- Drag a piece onto the town. A preview shows where it lands and lights up any row or column it would complete.
- Fill a whole row or column and the residents move in: the line clears and you score.
- Place all three pieces and a new hand arrives.
- The Daily is 36 pieces, the same for everyone. Endless keeps going until none of your pieces fit.
Controls
| Input | What it does |
|---|---|
| Touch | Drag a piece onto the town and lift your finger to place it |
| Mouse | Drag and drop a piece onto the town |
| Keyboard | 1, 2 or 3 picks a piece; arrow keys or WASD move it |
| Keyboard | Enter or Space places it; Esc puts it back |
| Keyboard | M mutes, P pauses, F goes fullscreen |
Tips
- Look at all three pieces before placing any. The order you use them in matters more than where the first one goes.
- Place long bars and big corners while the town is roomy, and save the small pieces for patching gaps.
- Keep one open 3x3 patch for as long as you can, so the bulky plaza always has somewhere to go.
- Avoid boxing in single empty squares. Only a one-house cottage can ever fill them.
- Clear lines on back-to-back placements to start a street party: the clear bonus grows up to three times.
- A drop that finishes a row and a column at once frees space in both directions and scores far more.
FAQ
Is the Daily the same for everyone?
Yes. The starting town, with its old stone houses, and all 36 pieces come from one shared seed, and a new Daily begins at midnight UTC. Every Daily is checked to be finishable before it reaches you.
Which Daily attempt counts?
Your first one. It starts counting with your first placement, and any later rounds that day are practice.
How do I share my result?
After the Daily, tap Share result to copy a small emoji grid: one square per hand, coloured by the lines you cleared. It contains no personal details and needs no account.
Why can't I rotate pieces?
On purpose. Fixed shapes keep each turn quick to read and make the Daily fairer, because everyone faces exactly the same puzzle.
Does it save my scores?
Your bests are kept in your browser on that device. There is no sign-up, so clearing browser data resets them.
Design notes
Tiny Grid Daily started with a question: what does a block puzzle look like if every piece is a building? Clearing a line became people moving in, which felt much nicer than things vanishing. We kept the town at 8x8 and left out rotation so each turn is a quick, readable decision, and a small bot plays every Daily first to make sure it can be finished.
Changelog
- Released: the 36-piece Daily with shareable results, and Endless.
- Game page published. The game is in development.
